In Manchester Budget Address, Ruais Manages to Raise Taxes and Gut School Funding at the Same Time
If enacted, Ruais will have raised property taxes by 5.76% since he took office last year
CONCORD, N.H. — In his Fiscal Year 2026 budget address, Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais found a way to both increase property taxes on Manchester taxpayers and shortchange Manchester children at the same time. His budget proposal, for the second year in a row, increases property taxes and combined with last year’s tax increase would equate to a 5.76% increase in property taxes since he took office last year. In the same proposal, Ruais cut $9.5 million from the Manchester schools.
"Instead of delivering results for Manchester, Jay Ruais keeps delivering tax hikes," said Amplify New Hampshire Executive Director Ryan Mahoney. "He continues to soak Manchester taxpayers and now he’s shortchanging Manchester’s children. His proposal clearly shows that Ruais has no plan to move Manchester forward and deliver on the false promises he made while campaigning for mayor. The hardworking people of Manchester deserve better."
