This month, New Hampshire state legislators have been preparing for the upcoming legislative session, setting forth potential new bills as legislative service requests (LSRs). These LSRs can be drafted by either a state resident or legislator, then will be filed by a legislative sponsor, formally drafted and introduced.
When looking at this year’s LSRs, it’s clear Republicans in Concord are planning on continuing their extremist agenda this legislative session, particularly in regards to policing curriculum in public schools. Let’s take a look:

Republicans Prepare to Attack “Anti-American” Content in NH Public Schools
Ahead of the LSR filing deadline, House Majority Leader Jason M. Osborne urged fellow Republican members to “turn up the heat” in his characterized battle of good versus evil, with a major emphasis on the classroom. His message to legislators accused “anti-American elements” of festering in public institutions, claiming that schools are “the primary breeding grounds for polarizing propaganda meant to shred our intricate social fabric,” teachers are “spewing marxist ideology,” and students are being radicalized “against their own country.”
“By taking back our institutions, and starting with schools, we can take back our republic,” Osborne wrote.
In this vein, Representative Mike Belcher has put forth an LSR aimed to root out what “leftist indoctrination in public schools.”
The draft language of his bill says no teacher, school or district shall engage in practices "that promote purposeful division, dialectical worldviews, critical consciousness, or anti-Constitutional indoctrination."
Republican Representative Melissa Litchfield has also sponsored an LSR aligning with these themes, aimed at “prohibiting the use of personal identity ideology in public school instruction and policies.”
In response to Osborne’s comments and proposed legislation, New Hampshire educators are already sounding the alarm.
"At this moment, it is alarming that some anti-public education politicians are 'turning up the heat' and directing unfounded enmity toward the dedicated professionals Granite Staters trust to teach their children," said Megan Tuttle, president of the NEA-New Hampshire.
